About

With nearly 30 years of business leadership experience with engineering companies large and small and named by The Wall Street Journal editors among the Ten Most Innovative Entrepreneurs in America, Rebecca’s passion is advising engineering executives to realize their vision.

In 2019, Rebecca was named to Chief Marketing Officer of ChemVM Technologies, a software startup combining the team’s decades of technology and chemical industry experience in with precise matching software to efficiently and securely connect customers with best-fit service providers. ChemVM started as a client of Rebecca’s consulting firm, RIVE, which she founded in 2018 to work with engineering executives and business leaders to develop a well-defined, measured path to realize their personal and professional vision.

RIVE grew out of Rebecca’s work serving as a personal coach and executive communications advisor as well as several implementations of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). Her interest grew in helping other engineering leadership teams implement the principles of EOS and advising on topics such as organizational development, purpose, vision, leadership communication, and culture and values.

Before founding RIVE, Rebecca was CEO of TREW Marketing, a marketing agency she cofounded in 2008. During her time leading the agency, Rebecca led the team in building strategic, thoughtful, and sustainable marketing programs for a wide variety of companies. She worked diligently from the earliest days of the agency to create a culture that is honest, collaborative and always committed to finding the smartest solution to achieving each client’s defined goals and objectives.

Prior to co-founding the agency, Rebecca managed marketing programs at a variety of technology and marketing companies and was a member of the marketing leadership team at National Instruments for 14 years, rising to Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations with responsibility for global PR and internal, external, and leadership communications programs. With over two decades working in scientific and engineering industries, Rebecca is known for her passion for marketing, technical understanding of complex topics, and a sincere appreciation for the impact of scientists, engineers, and academic professionals on society.

With an honest, direct communication style, Rebecca takes great pride in the long-lasting, trusted relationships she has with business executives around the world, from academic leaders to trade, business and technical press and many long-time partners and customers.

Rebecca also has a passion for writing. After blogging regularly for years and contributing numbers articles, she finally wrote her own book, Smart Marketing for Engineers: An Inbound Marketing Guide to Reaching Technical Audiences. In it, she details the steps, from the start with positioning to the end with measurement, to using an inbound marketing methodology to generate awareness and demand in B2B technical markets. She has also dedicated much time to researching the engineer’s buying journey, having published seven annual reports in total that are read by tens of thousands of engineering business leaders around the world.

Rebecca has given presentations to audiences large and small around the world, but most enjoys working in small groups where everyone rolls up their sleeves and “gets down to the details" to develop goals, brainstorm business opportunities, and create aligned, accountable, and high-performing teams.

Rebecca and her husband Tim enjoy spending time with their two kids, Mollie (25) and Cooper (20) and extended family, and the outdoor lifestyle and live music of Austin and the Texas Hill Country. She is happiest in the mountains, skiing the moguls in the winter, and hiking and riding motorcycles in the summer. Rebecca graduated magna cum laude from Boston College and studied at Université de Grenoble in France (conveniently very close to Alps skiing!).
